On April 30th 2008, Lou Alvarado fell off a 24-foot ladder while on the job and suffered a spinal cord injury, which paralyzed him from the waist down. Immediately after hearing the news his friends, colleagues and family sprang to action to help make his home wheelchair-accessible.
