"Ragtime with whimsy" is how the Raspberry Jam Band defines itself, and some whimsy is to be heard in this performance of Scott Joplin's "Rag-Time Dance".This arrangement is based on the instrumental version of the tune published in 1906, where the first two strains have been omitted and an interlude has been put into a new key and used as the introduction. The Raspberries here are:Tom Brier; pianoJulia Riley; flute & piccoloMary Preston; violin, claves & slide whistleGeorge Preston, euphoniumMark Meeker, tubaKitty Wilson, washboardRecorded August 2008 in Los Altos, California.

Dec 5, 2008 - I'm sure Scott Joplin would have approved enormously......I use the New England Ragtime Ensemble and Joshua Rifkin as yardsticks and this is a worthy addition to the exponents of this work......
