Dec 5, 2008 - You gave me an idea for a question. Who gives "God" his purpose? If making your own purpose is somehow empty and shallow and the only thing worthwhile is to have purpose imposed from outside, then God's own purpose must be equally shallow and without value.

In fact, we are in an interesting position of being the only species of organism, ever, to be solely responsible for the massive destruction and extinction of countless species. We are in the 6th mass extinction since life appeared on this earth and we are the cause. Something to be proud of? Purpose? Nope, just total fuckups. History(if there ever is one)will show us in a very poor light. A negative legacy for sure.

Also, coral polyps, and their algal helpers, are another example of old design that are destined for the extinction pile on account of us. I guess our purpose was to develop our brains to the point of stupidity. Religious nutcases tend to not listen to scientists who have been ringing the bell on this topic. They think it's gawd's plan. If so, sky-daddy is a fuckup then.
