Cato Institute scholar Mike Tanner discusses his new book and how the republicans and democrats are now both fighting for bigger and more costly government in a time where the economy is truly suffering! It is time to look back at the constitution and our Bill Of Rights before our prosperous nation is lost! If the big parties are both for big government, who will defend liberty? Demand-side economics and Supply-side economics centralize economies, something very few people understand. This is why the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, not Laissez-faire economics! As long as FEDERAL regulations usurp state's funding our country will continue to watch jobs go overseas and our dollar to decline. Big government can not fix our problems, it is what slowly caused them!"The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."~Thomas JeffersonThis website is filled with some great election information that both sides need to see before giving their grandchildrens liberties to the Federal government:http://www.youtube.com/user/shanklinmikeBob Barr For President 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwDylTuH70wThe Political Spectrum Explained:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-4kCD4nbrwEveryday the republicans and democrats overstep the constitution and threaten our childrens liberties and future prosperity. Aug 29, 2008 - There is no such thing as free healthcare! One of the reasons we don't get "free" healthcare is because people like me educate others about the failures of centralized government coerced monopolies and how competition can increase the quality of life greater than government force and shortages or oversubsidization! Does the IRS suck? Yes! Would we have better healthcare had the government not been threatening a takeover the last 50 years increasing interest rates as investment decreases? You bet

Ghostrider616 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - I gotta chime in here...Nixon started the War on Drugs, not Reagan.Reagan got a LOT of the rhetoric right, but the Military build-up and neo-con interventionist foreign policies were cemented under Reagan.

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - If you want to get technical the war on drugs started before alcohol prohibition....I agree with much of what you are saying.

DruidAnthony420 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Other country's out there get free health care and Free child care at less then 5% of their taxes. So yeah there's no such thing but there could be. So i say if the British want free health care and they get it and we dont. they need to poison them people and put shit in their food.Paying $5000.00 for having a baby plus having to pay insurance is a rip off its a joke its stealing from ppl.Other country's dont charge and they pay you to take time off for having a baby like 6 months.

DruidAnthony420 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - British IRS Bank doesn't want to pay for it with "OUR" Tax money.

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Most of these countries have high unemployment rates. My point is there is no such thing as free anything. Someone has to pay for it and it takes 1/4 of the tax revenue just to collect the taxes in the first place. Why would you want to monopolize healthcare into a forceful government program that controls our health and limits our choice of provider and service? Most countries that have "free" healthcare oversubsidize and our country is no different. "Free" healthcare is a pyramid scheme.

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Government monopolies fail! They always have, maybe not at first(things look sustainable and the people who own the system - government - will tell you everything is okay like they do in most European countries) but in the end the marginal social benefit never outweighs the opportunity cost of marginal social cost. There is no way a monopoly can provide on all the promises it gives! When you vote for bigger government you also vote against civil libertieswatch?v=18EWsXmdZtUwatch?v=y428AAUBR5c

Darlowe Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - The only thing that the government should own is health care... because everyone no matter how much money they make deserves good health... but on that not junkies, criminals, and alcoholics deserve no medical care for their choices.

DruidAnthony420 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Well its just a way to exploit married ppl. I can live off the government just like a lot of ppl do. Get free health care & everything else while watching others get exploited. I'm not selfish I guess you can say. So thats why I speak out for those who get picked on and dont even know it. Or do know it and let Their love one die on the doctor table. They can't get a divorce because of their religion to get federal help save their loved one.John Q My movie play listThx again u do know ur math;)

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - I too want the best healthcare for everyone! That is why for decades people like me have stood up against this failing monopoly of force that is destroying market share and growth in the industry while creating shortages and price increases. The republicans want to oligopolize insurance and the democrats want to monopolize the provider! These are both insane and irrational answers to our problem. You think the government will be able to discriminate against junkies, criminals....fairly? Ha!

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Furthermore I can not believe that people truly think that this system is long-run sustainable. Only a market that is based on peaceful exchange of goods will allow growth and highest quality. Government monopolies have been destroying this country for years and what do people do? They vote them in honestly believing the campaign lies of the few people who stand to get rich off of it.....the republicans/democrats! How can you vote for either of these two special interest parties promises?

Darlowe Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Well call me an incureable optimist... despite the fact the sky is definately falling. I would love to say the system Canada has is good... but it is also fraught with its own problems. But you are right given the size of any bureacracy it loses the ability to fairly do anything.

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - I believe a lot of people try to defend those who get exploited.......I certainly do. More importantly, I am trying to stop the reason people get exploited! Unfair government monopolies will never lead to fair/quality business....quite the opposite. Thank you for your time and great discussion. I hope you check out my channel! It is filled with information showing why the republicans and democrats are not the correct path for this country. Peace!

Darlowe Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Well I dont vote for either... Until I listened to ron paul I didnt even vote... but now I write in who i think should be in charge... and the worst part is in Canada you cant find anyone politician with a good idea.

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - If forcing people into a oligopolized system is good, at least let the more efficient state's(compared to centralized federal system) create their own government monopolies and control over our families health. I'm telling you this now....as government turns more into a business expect a loss of our civil liberties. The republicans and democrats try to act like there is social freedoms and economic freedoms. In the end, they are truly positively correlated....if not identical. Peace!

shanklinmike Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - Actually.....there was this guy Hitler who got 37% of the vote and many people thought he had great ideas of using force on others, just like the republicans and democrats.(Of course I am using sarcasm when associated with Hitler). What the heck happened to all the freedom educated Americans? It seems I am the only one left sometimes. Everybody else converts into the neoconservative/liberal thought process of coercion. It just hurts me knowing my country's liberty is going down the drain!

InTheSticks1881 Says:

Aug 30, 2008 - Right on! Bending and breaking the letter and spirit of the Constitution sets us adrift like a boat without an anchor. If we do not agree with the Constitution, we must change it as it prescribes. If we allow our government to ignore the law of the land, it eventually become a lawless land where only tyranny rules.

yourepissinmeoff Says:

Aug 30, 2008 - Sounds like an accurate assessment to me.

Ghostrider616 Says:

Aug 30, 2008 - Yeah, but American Political history is full of twists and turns that confuse the entire issue...The American Progressive Movement was behind prohibition and was very much and American fascist movement that used religion to force thier agenda on the American People, much like the modern Neo-Cons take advantage of the religious Right...

barakudasadagat Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - NOT HAPPENING! OBAMA HAS MY VOTE! I live in Alaska.. and Palin is NOT ready to lead this Country. in a way I think McCain really fucked himself over. It sucks up here right now, because everytime you turn on the TV, the ONLY thing on is Palin, Palin, Palin... just because she is the governor doesn't mean you need to pump it, to try and brainwash people to vote for her.

shanklinmike Says:

Sep 7, 2008 - What is not happening? I don't like Palin either. You really think the democrats monopoly centralized coercive government is the answer? The republicans AND democrats are both wrong. Thank you for your time! Peacewatch?v=V-4kCD4nbrwwatch?v=Td-nZNIwQIcwatch?v=79VBB0ffmxUwatch?v=dws0D7aEmis
